Brian Kenny for Bruno Magli: I WANT TO TELL THE TRUTH

Drawings, print design and a film, commissioned by the Italian fashion house Bruno Magli, in conjunction with creative director Max Kibardin, for a special project presented at Pitti Immagine Uomo 82 (Florence, Italy). Inspired by the imagery in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s 1969 film Medea, a capsule collection was created, including 4 pairs of loafers and a shopping bag in a black technical fabric featuring phosphorescent embroidered reproductions of my drawings. I also produced an accompanying film made from reworked sound and footage from Pasolini’s Medea entitled “Today you’re 5 and I want to tell you the truth”. Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art is proud to present In The Name Of Love, a solo exhibition by Slava Mogutin, showcasing a series of 24 recent medium format portraits produced by the artist as traditional analog C-prints. Also part of the exhibit is Entropy Parade, a collaboration with Brian Kenny. Mogutin and Kenny created a series of multi-layered collages based on photographs, drawings and text. Read more here.

The exhibition “FACELESS part I”, opening at freiraum quartier21 INTERNATIONAL/MQ on July 3 at 19:00, presents contemporary works from the worlds of art and fashion in which faces are hidden, transformed, or masked. In addition to some one hundred works by artists including Marina Abramović, Thorsten Brinkmann, Asger Carlsen, Shahram Entekhabi, David Haines, Ren Hang, Brian Kenny, Ute Klein, Nienke Klunder, Zachari Logan, Manu Luksch, Slava Mogutin, Mustafa Sabbagh, Jan Stradtmann, and Levi van Veluw, the show features masks by designers like Maison Martin Margiela, Jun Takahashi for UNDERCOVER, and Katsuya Kamo for Junya Watanabe’s COMME des GARÇONS.

Inspired by the poetry of Arthur Rimbaud and the art of Hans Bellmer and Pierre Molinier, the show combines a new series of SKINGRAPHS collages (BEAUTY) and the latest SUPERM video featuring Francois Sagat, with contributions by Franko B, Gio Black Peter, Robert Filippini, Erika Keck, Josh Lee, Asher Levine, Rafael Santiago, Casey Spooner, Michael Stipe, and Neil Young (HELL). Live tattoo performance by Nick Theobald and Slava Mogutin at the opening.
